Auto Insurance

The great State of Texas requires all vehicles owners to be at least minimally insured under state guidelines. We are here to help you, not only understand those guidelines, but understand all the complex details that go into insuring your vehicles and the people who drive those vehicles. Texas Auto Basics and Coverages

Liability Split Limits – 30/60/25 

If you are in an accident and you are at fault these are the limits that insurance companies will pay (bodily injury per 1 person/ bodily injury per accident/property damage). This coverage usually increases in increments of 50/100/50, 100/300/100, 250/500/250. Here at Texas Edge we like our clients to have at least 100/300/100 coverage. 

Liability Combined Single Limit - $100,000, $300,000, $500,000 

This is the limit the insurance company will pay for any one accident for bodily injury and property damage combined when the insured is at fault. You can usually choose either a combined limit or a split limit for your coverage. 

Uninsured/Underinsured Motorist Split Limits – 30/60/25 

If you are in a car accident and the other party is at fault, and they do not have insurance or have minimum limits that the bodily injury and/or property damage exceeds - these are the limits the company will pay: bodily injury per 1 person/ bodily injury per accident/property damage. These can usually increase in increments of 50/100/50, 100/300/100, 250/500/250.  This coverage has to be rejected by signature. This is usually subject to a $250 deductible. Here at Texas Edge Agency we like our clients to be covered with at least 50/100/25 coverage. 

Uninsured/Underinsured Combined Single Limit - $100,000, $300,000, $500,000 –

This is the limit the insurance company will pay if the other party is at fault, and they do not have insurance, or have minimum limits that the bodily injury and/or property damage exceeds for any one accident for bodily injury and property damage combined.

Medical Payments

This coverage pays for medical expenses and other related costs for you and your passengers if you are involved in an accident, regardless of who is at fault. Usually covered in increments of $1,000, $2,000, $3,000, & $5,000. 

Personal Injury Protection (PIP)-

PIP is another form of medical protection. This coverage will pay up to the limit purchased if someone in the insured’s vehicle is injured. Coverage can go towards medical and/or up to 80% of lost wages. This coverage is usually in increments of $2,500, $5,000, $10,000. This coverage has to be rejected by signature. 

Comprehensive

This coverage pays for damages to your vehicle that are not caused by a collision, such as theft, fire, or weather-related damage. Subject to a deductible with loss paid out on an ACV basis – Other than collision – fire, theft, hail. Carriers offer multiple deductibles - $100, $250, $500, $750, $1,000, $1,500, & $2,000. Some companies will let you cover comprehensive without collision coverage. *Some companies may not offer this coverage based on age of vehicle. 

Collision -

This coverage pays for damages to your own vehicle if you are involved in a collision, regardless of who is at fault. Subject to a deductible with loss paid out on an ACV basis– If your car collides with anything (another vehicle, a curb, a tree/sign, etc.) Carriers offer multiple deductibles - $100, $250, $500, $750, $1,000, $1,500, & $2,000. *Some companies may not offer this coverage based on age of vehicle. 

Rental Reimbursement

This coverage is available if your vehicle is unusable from a covered loss (must have claim from a purchased coverage). Starting at $30 a day up to 30 days, $40/$50 a day. 

Roadside Assistance

Ever been stuck on the side of the road with a flat tire or a dead battery? Roadside is a cheap alternative to paying those heavy towing fees. Usually covers battery jumpstarts, towing (to nearest qualified facility), and lock smiths. Each company has their own guidelines for this coverage.
